Instructions

    Rinse the dal. Boil it with turmeric and water until soft.

    Whisk the cooked dal gently until it is smooth and slightly thin.

    Add the chopped water spinach stems first. Simmer gently for 4–5 minutes.

    Add the leaves now. Simmer for another 3–4 minutes until tender.

    Heat mustard oil in a small pan. Fry the crushed garlic and dried red chilli until fragrant.

    Pour this spiced hot oil over the dal. Stir everything well.

    Add salt and simmer for another 2 minutes. Serve hot with rice.
