Toss the apples with the lemon juice, half the cinnamon and 50 g of the brown sugar and spread in a buttered dish.

Rub the butter into the flour, oats, remaining sugar and cinnamon until clumpy.

Scatter the topping evenly over the fruit without pressing it down.

Bake at 180C for 40-45 minutes until the topping is deep gold and the fruit bubbles at the edges.

Rest 15 minutes before serving.
