Instructions

Simmer chopped dates with water and lemon juice, stirring, until thick and jam-like, about 10 minutes. Cool slightly.

Mix oats, flour, brown sugar and baking soda, then stir in the melted butter until crumbly.

Press half the oat mixture firmly into a lined baking pan.

Spread the date filling evenly over the base.
