Instructions
- 1
Bring a large pot of unsalted water to a boil on the stovetop. Or, preheat your grill to medium-high heat.
- 2
If boiling, add the husked corn to the pot. Cook for 5-7 minutes until tender.
- 3
If grilling, place the husked corn directly over the flame. Turn occasionally and cook for about 10-12 minutes until lightly charred.
- 4
Remove the corn from the heat. Brush it generously with melted butter.
- 5
Season with salt and pepper to taste.
- 6
Serve immediately while it is hot.
Chef's tips
Buy corn the same day you cook it, because Jersey sweet corn quickly loses sweetness after picking. Grilling in the husk steams the corn while adding a light smoky flavor.
Storage
Refrigerate cooked corn up to 3 days.
Reheating
Reheat briefly in the microwave wrapped in a damp paper towel, or on the grill.
Common mistakes to avoid
- โขOvercooking, which makes the kernels tough
- โขSalting the boiling water, which can toughen the corn
