Instructions

Warm milk and mix with yeast and a pinch of sugar; let stand until foamy.
- 2

- 3
Knead 8 minutes until smooth, then let rise covered for 1 hour until doubled.
- 4
Roll dough into a large rectangle and spread with remaining softened butter.
- 5
Sprinkle cinnamon and sugar evenly over the butter, then roll up tightly into a log.
- 6
Slice into 12 rounds and arrange in a greased baking pan, cover, and let rise 30 minutes.
- 7
Bake at 180°C for 20–25 minutes until golden, then drizzle with icing sugar glaze while warm.
Chef's tips
Bake in a big tray so buns touch slightly; they stay softer and pull apart easily for sharing.
Ingredient substitutions
- milk → water with a splash of powdered milk if fresh milk is unavailable
Storage
Store covered at room temperature for 2 days or refrigerate up to 5 days.
Reheating
Warm individual buns in the microwave for 15–20 seconds.
Common mistakes to avoid
- •Rolling too loosely lets the filling spill out
- •Skipping the second rise gives dense buns
