Instructions

Parboil the drained beans for 20 minutes and reserve the liquid.

Bury the onions and salt pork among the beans in a bean pot.

Mix the molasses, mustard, sugar and salt into 600 ml of the bean liquid and pour in.

Cover and bake at 130C for 6 hours, adding hot liquid whenever they look dry.

Uncover for the last hour so the top darkens and crusts.

Serve very hot with bread.
