Instructions

Whisk flour, baking powder, salt and sugar together.

Rub in the cold butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.

Beat the egg with the milk, then stir into the dry ingredients to make a soft dough.

Turn out onto a floured surface and pat gently to about 2 cm thick.

Cut into rounds and place on a baking sheet.
