Instructions

Loosen the cabbage leaves in boiling water and shave the ribs flat.

Fry the onions and mushrooms in the butter until browned and stir them through the buckwheat with dill and salt.

Roll the filling in the leaves and pack them into a lined roaster.

Pour over the tomatoes with 250 ml water.

Cover tightly and bake at 160C for 2 hours.

Rest before serving.
Chef's tips
Buckwheat swells less than rice, so fill the leaves a little more generously than you would for the rice version.
