    Preheat oven to 190°C and grease a baking sheet or skillet.

    Whisk flour, baking powder and salt together.

    Cut in the butter until the mixture is crumbly.

    Stir in milk until a soft dough forms.

    Shape into a round loaf about 3 cm thick and place on the prepared sheet.

    Bake 22–25 minutes until golden and a skewer comes out clean.

    Cool slightly before cutting into wedges.

Score a shallow cross on top before baking so the loaf cooks through evenly and looks like a traditional round loaf when it rises.
