Instructions
- 1
Heat your oven to 500ยฐF with a pizza stone or heavy sheet pan inside.
- 2
Dust your peel or pan with cornmeal. Stretch the dough into a thin circle or oval, about 16-18 inches across.
- 3
Brush a light layer of olive oil over the dough.
- 4
Spread the pizza sauce thinly across the dough. Leave a wide bare border around the edges for the crust.
- 5
Cover generously with shredded mozzarella. Sprinkle oregano over the top.
- 6
Slide the pizza onto the hot stone or pan. Bake 8-10 minutes until the crust is deeply golden and cheese bubbles.
- 7
Cut into giant slices. Make each slice at least a third of the whole pie.
- 8
Sprinkle with parmesan. Serve hot and fold lengthwise to eat.
Chef's tips
Stretch the dough very thin in the middle and leave a thick outer crust. This lets the huge slice fold easily without breaking.
Storage
Best eaten immediately; leftover slices can be refrigerated up to 2 days.
Reheating
Reheat in a hot oven or skillet to re-crisp the bottom; avoid the microwave, which makes it soggy.
Common mistakes to avoid
- โขAdding too much sauce, which makes the huge slice too soggy to fold.
- โขLeaving the dough too thick, which makes the slice too heavy to hold.
