Instructions
- 1
Bring 4 cups of water to a boil in a saucepan.
- 2
Take the pan off the heat and add the tea bags. Let them steep for 8โ10 minutes.
- 3
Lift out the tea bags without squeezing them so the tea does not turn bitter.
- 4
Stir in the sugar while the tea is still hot until it fully dissolves.
- 5
Pour the sweet tea liquid into a pitcher.
- 6
Add 4 cups of cold water and stir everything together.
- 7
Place the pitcher in the refrigerator until the tea is completely chilled.
- 8
Pour the tea into glasses over ice and add lemon wedges.
Chef's tips
Stir the sugar into the tea while it is still hot so it melts easily. Do not steep the tea bags too long or the drink will taste bitter.
Storage
Refrigerate up to 5 days in a covered pitcher.
Reheating
Serve cold; no reheating needed.
Common mistakes to avoid
- โขAdding sugar after the tea cools, which keeps the sugar from dissolving properly.
- โขSteeping the tea bags for too long, which makes the tea taste bitter.
