Instructions
- 1
Pull the husks off the corn. Remove all the fine silk threads.
- 2
Push a wooden stick firmly into the bottom end of each ear of corn.
- 3
Bring a large pot of water to a boil on your stovetop, or heat your grill to medium-high heat.
- 4
If boiling, cook the corn for 5-7 minutes until it turns bright yellow and tender.
- 5
If grilling, cook the corn for 10-12 minutes. Turn it occasionally until lightly charred in spots.
- 6
Brush plenty of melted butter over each ear of corn.
- 7
Sprinkle with salt to taste. Serve right away while it is hot.
Chef's tips
Insert sticks before cooking so the corn is easier and safer to hold hot. Fresh, in-season Minnesota corn needs very little added flavor beyond butter and salt.
Storage
Best eaten immediately; not suited for storage once buttered.
Reheating
Not typically reheated; serve fresh.
Common mistakes to avoid
- โขCooking the corn too long, which makes it tough and starchy.
- โขPutting the sticks in after cooking when the corn is too hot to handle safely.
