Instructions

  1. 1

Bring 2 cups of water to a boil. Pour the water over the tea bags in a heatproof container.

  2. 2

Let the tea bags steep for 8-10 minutes.

  3. 3

Take out the tea bags. Stir in the sugar until it completely dissolves.

  4. 4

Pour the sweet tea into a large pitcher. Add the remaining 6 cups of cold water.

  5. 5

Stir everything well. Refrigerate the pitcher until the tea is chilled.

  6. 6

Serve the tea over ice with lemon slices.

Chef's tips

Stir the sugar into the tea while it is still hot so it melts easily. Brew the tea strong so melting ice does not water down the flavor.

Storage

Refrigerate up to 5 days.

Reheating

Served cold; no reheating needed.

Common mistakes to avoid

  • โ€ขSteeping the tea too long, which makes it taste bitter
  • โ€ขAdding sugar after the tea cools, which leaves it grainy
